Home Schooling with Grace Classical Academy
Grace Classical Academy recognizes that God has called certain families to educate their children in their homes. This educational commitment has allowed countless Christian families to protect their children from detrimental influences. It has also provided an opportunity for Christian parents to be profoundly involved in the education of their children and to enable students to excel in their studies and their spiritual life.

Why do your Christian children need a distinctively Christian education?

• Neutrality is impossible in any endeavor, much less in education. Christ is Lord of all, including the three cornerstones of all true Christian education: truth, beauty, and goodness.


• The Bible requires parents to educate their children in accordance with a biblical worldview from the time they get up until the time they go to sleep.


• God calls us to train our children to love Him not only with all their heart, soul, and strength, but also with all their mind.

In his book, Excused Absence, should Christian kids leave Public Schools? Douglas Wilson puts forth a very convincing argument for Christian education. He quotes Martin Luther as saying, “I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not increasingly occupied with the Word of God must become corrupt…..” and Timothy Dwight as saying “To commit our children to the care of irreligious persons is to commit lambs to the superintendency of wolves.”

Homeschoolers today are facing a myriad of decisions and program options. The public schools have created a variety of venues to keep children whose parents want to educate them at home still under the government umbrella- charter schools, virtual academies, and more. These public school-based programs offer free curriculum (as long as it is not Christian), and accountability to a government-credentialed teacher (who probably doesn’t know your child as well as you do). But children enrolled in these programs are still under the government umbrella. Many home school families have embraced the idea of Classical Education and are striving to implement its time-honored principles. Classical Education is a grand subject with a rich heritage. It is not simplistic and it makes no claims to being an easy undertaking. Classical Home Schooling requires rigorous thinking, speaking, and writing, and the transmission of the heritage of the Western Civilization.

Classes such as Logic, Latin, and Literature are predominant in Classical Education. Of critical importance to a Classical Education is the dual integration of disciplines throughout curricula and the Scriptural foundation for all learning. These elements distinguish Classical Education from other home schooling models. Classical Home Schooling is a demanding adventure that requires a deep commitment to continual learning by both the parent and the child.

Home schooling is no easy task. Home schooling by means of the Classical Education model is an even greater challenge. Grace Classical Academy desires to serve families who are undertaking this challenge.
